We are going to Paris for our 40th anniversary next year. Can someone recommend a hotel with a nice view of the Eiffel Tower, Preferably one I won't need to mortgage to house for !

Homeaway, VRBO and Airbnb all have apartments with a view available. I'm sorry I can't recommend a particular one, I have only looked into renting one with a view of the Tower for a future trip.

In September 2013 we stayed on a houseboat on the Seine with an incredible view of the Eiffel Tower. Check out this Airbnb rental:
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/278815. The owner was most charming, the location and views unbeatable. If you don't mind a small bit of rocking during the day when other boats pass by, this is great. At night the Seine is quiet and we felt no rocking. The shower room is basic boat facilities but quite adequate. We loved our stay on the "Soleil",

Careful with hotels, some rooms will have the view and some won't, and you don't always know ahead of time which room you'll get.

We stayed at Hotel Duquesne Eiffel and specified an upper level room with a view of the ET a few years ago. From our bed we could see the top half as it twinkled on the hour for 10 minutes until 0100. Worth every penny and easy walking distance to the ET. The 7th is quiet at night but the excellent metro system allows you to stay just about anywhere and still enjoy the late nights in the Latin Quarter or the Marais. Check out their website www.hotel-duquesne-eiffel-paris.com. Contact them via email and ask what the rate is for a room with a view of the ET from the upper levels.

Happy traveling,

We stayed at the Hotel Duquesne Eiffel on our recent trip for our anniversary. We read reviews on Trip Advisor and asked specifically for room 55. It was pricey, but the magical view was worth every penny! Happy anniversary!
