What time of day is best to see the view from the Eiffel Tower? I have heard that going half an hour before sunset is the best experience. Would you agree, or is there a better time? I am planning to try to book tickets ahead of time; we will be visiting at the end of May.
From RS 2022 PARIS book: "When to Go: for the best of all worlds, arrive with enough light to see the views, then stay as it gets dark to see the lights."
This website will give you daily sunset times in May 2023. https://www.timeanddate.com/sun/france/paris?month=5
RS has all sorts of info about the ET. You can do a search within this site for his recommendations and details.
Realize that it takes a while to get up to the summit. We had tickets for 9:30 in the morning (we were in line by 9:10), and didn't even get through security until close to 10, and then had to take the elevators up. Once you are up there you can spend all the time you want. Also note that tickets sell out fast and are extremely hard to get. We lucked out and managed to buy some a couple of weeks beforehand (after they had been sold out for weeks), but there were limited times available.
