We'll be in Paris the last week of May and, of course, there are not any available tickets for pre-purchase (even with trying different options). I haven't been up the tower since 2004 so I am not sure the best tips for purchasing tickets at the base. It will be 2 adults and 2 kids (under 10). Is there a better time to get there? I have walked by the last few trips and witnessed the lines but as we weren't going up, I never worried. We're staying near the Trocadero so walking over is not a problem at any time. Thanks!
Maria there is no less crowded time to go to the ET in May .. except maybe during a heavy fog( ok.. you get thats a joke) ..
What you can do is arrive 30-45 minutes before it opens.. you will still be waiting but not as long as arriving later..
Or take the stairs.. its cheaper and faster. And its simply not that bad. As long as kids are over 6 or so they will manage fine.. kids usually have more energy then we do.. my son would run up a flight and then run back down to me .. "hurry up mom" .. lol
Its May.. high tourist season begins.. accept there will be lines. When I took my 11 yr old I just was straight up with her about waiting in lines. My boys were too immature and hyper to deal well with lines so I didn't take them to Paris till they were a bit older. You know your kids.. At least in your case you are going with hubby.. you can take kids for a little walk while one waits in line and switch off a few times if they are bored.
We've never been there in May so I forgot it was high season. I think your suggestions are perfect - we could climb up since they have a ton of energy (although I am afraid of heights so that may not be so fabulous for me!) or go early and just pick up breakfast to eat there while we wait and take turns walking them around. That actually may be the best option of all. I know we pass a patisserie and cafe on the way so it's a win-win. Thank you!
