Eiffel tower tickets a bit confusing?

I have been keeping an eye for Eiffel tower tickets for a while now (ticket.toureiffel.paris). I am wanting to purchase 5 tickets. When I look at it today (Tues 21st here in NZ) the 20th May shows as being the "Last available tickets". But when I click on 20th May and 5 people then click on continue nothing happens. When I then click on 19th May instead it brings up the option of "Summit by lift & champagne" and the other 2 options are sold out. We are happy with the champagne ticket. Will there still be a long wait with that option?

I assume if I wanted the other tickets I would have to be up at midnight tomorrow night (Wednesday) to access 21st May tickets?

Requiring people to buy expensive champagne tickets is a real hose job. People have been complaining about it all over the net. If you have a reserved time, you stand in the same reserved line for people in your half hour window; it might be short -- or not. For us in April with summit tickets the wait was 70 minutes to the elevator; they were feeding people from the line buying ticket on site into the front of our reserved line. I am not sure it would not have been faster that day to just get ticket on site.

Once you are on level 2 the line for level three elevator may be quite long -- or not. Ours that day was only about 10 minutes.

The whole Champagne Bar thing is stupid -- it is a window where you get your overpriced plastic flute of champagne and drink it standing around on the level 3 walkway. Great if you want that; outrageous if it is the price of getting a ticket to the top.

Whenever you want to buy the tickets, they will go on sale at midnight Paris time and your computer/browser must also be at Paris time (although being ahead I wouldn't think would matter, but who knows, it might). In early February, when buying our tickets, I found out it did not matter if it was midnight in Paris, if my browser/computer was not set to Paris time, the tickets were not available (I'm east coast US). Unfortunately I didn't figure that out until all the summit tickets were gone for the day we really wanted to go; I was able to get them for the next day however.

The tickets go INCREDIBLY fast - even with my time changed by the time I got to the times page I had the choice of 5pm or 8pm and that was it, everything else was gone.

That is interesting, that your computer setting would matter since you are arriving at their window, their time.

FWIW. buying opera tickets is the same way. The lower priced tickets sell out right while you are in line trying to buy them.

Thanks all :) Figured it out. Today the 21st May shows as being the "last available tickets", but clicking on it does not actually work until midnight Paris time (luckily our lunchtime here in NZ !!). So at 11:55am today I will be sitting there refreshing lol. I will try and get the normal summit tickets, but if I miss out I will just get the champagne ones :)

FWIW. When we. last had night tickets, we just walked across the river after our visit to Trocadero -- a quite lovely walk and then watched the sparkle before catching the metro at Trocadero at about 12:10.

Thanks all :) Do we need to book tickets in advance for Montparnasse or can we just rock on up whenever and buy?
