I understand through a rick steves guidebook update that advance eiffel tower tickets go on sale 3 months in advance and sell out within a few hours. If we can't purchase them in advance, is it likely we will be able to purchase them when we get there. We will be there in the first week of June for 5 nights.
Oh yes.. no worries BUT you will have to line up and go up same time. The ones sold on the website are for pre selected time slots.. buying them means you avoid waiting in a long line.. but they are non transferable and non changeable.. and you must arrive within 15 minutes max of your time slot or you will be denied access.
The lines for ET will be LONG in June.. hours perhaps.. so you would do best to arrive at least 45 minutes before it opens in the morning and get in line.. or .. line up at the Sud Pilar and climb the stairs. I have done it to avoid huge lines for elevator and its not that bad. You can climb to second level, which in my opinion is plenty high for great views.. and if you really want to go to top there is a separate ticket booth for tickets to top on the second level.. you will wait there too.. but only 30 minutes or so..
