The website sale of tickets for the summit elevator at the Eiffel Tower sold out (system overwhelmed) as my cart spun. Question: Your experience getting summit elevator tickets when you arrive at the base?

Unless you are going in the next 7 days, tickets are not really sold out. Keep trying. The largest wave of tickets is released about a week in advance:

I would not expect chances to be high of getting summit tickets on the spot. Maybe you could.

most tickets are released at 1 pm Paris time a week out. You can usually get walk up summit tickets on the day if the summit is open. It is sometimes closed for weather.
