We will be in Paris in mid June and want to take the tour to the upper level about 45 minutes before sunset. I looked up the actual time of Paris sunset and it is about 9:55PM. The ticket times show at 17:00, 17:30, 20:00, and 21:30. Which time slot would be the best to reserve so as to be at the top about 45 minutes before actual sunset...soo excited...
Well, let's see. If you book the 20:00h time slot you will be there close to 2 hours before sunset. If you book the 21:30h time you will have 25 minutes to wait. Looks to me like you'll have to go for the 20:00 (8:00pm) I think you know what you have to do. Hope it is a clear night for you.
683,
just my experience when i was there in a March.
Just because you have tickets to go up, doesnt mean you will be going up at that time. There is a security line you have to pass and then you have to wait for the lifts. There are lines for the lifts from the ground up to the 2nd? level and then lines from the 2nd? level up to the top and then the process starts over again to get down.
happy trails.
Ray has given an even more pressing reason to book the 8:00 pm spot.
I'm not a fan of reserving tickets ahead to go up the tower. I know people who have done it and then were unable to go up because it was closed due to high winds, or it was raining and there was no sunset to watch, so they were just 'out' that money. I think it's just as easy to get in line 2 hours or so before sunset, or climb the stairs to the first level and get in line for the elevator from there (if the weather cooperates). Take a portable picnic (sandwiches) and eat while in line. When I went 2 years ago it was in mid-summer on a beautiful evening and even then the line was only a little more than 1/2 hour long so I ended up with about 1-1/2 hrs waiting for sunset.
