Eiffel Tower questions including restaurant questions

Edited from earlier*

I am sure these have already been answered, but before I could not figure out how to use the RS search function for the forums---I have now and I still have questions (for those who don't know how to use the search function to get to forum answers, the search bar above enter in your topic, then when presented with your answers [usually all blog posts or official posts], look to the left and just select "forum". That will give you the most recent forum posts on your subject).

Looking at booking the Eiffel Tower for an evening ride to the top. I went to the official site, and cannot book for my time in Paris until next week--I am setting my alarm so I can book as soon as it goes live). The Jules Verne restaurant is taking reservations for those dates now (of course with a deposit).

My questions:
1) Is the newly re-opened Jules Verne Restaurant worth it?
2) I now know that I do not need a timed ticket for my dinner, but will need a timed ticket for the top. Do I get the ticket for when my dinner ends, or for before? And, will such ticket allow me to see the visitors center on my way out as opposed to before dinner?

Can't answer your questions, but there IS a search function. Look at the top of your page. There is a window with a magnifying glass icon and a large print Search in it.

This is what I found on the web:

"First and foremost, when dining here there's no waiting in line at the Eiffel Tower. You enter at the South Pillar, where a private lift whisks you up to Jules Verne 410 feet (to be exact) above ground. And, after dining, you get VIP access to the second floor viewing deck through a private entrance, with no additional costs or tickets. We can attest that it's a real bonus to be able to skip the lines at the Eiffel Tower. (Once you're on the second level you can also buy a ticket to get to the very top.)"

Note that that website is just wrong. You CANNOT buy a ticket on the second floor to the top. So yes you can go to the Jules Verne with a reservation and be on the second floor deck but if you want to go to the top you need to have bought a summit ticket earlier -- the first part of which you may not use.

Search on this Forum is not ideal, but it is available. There are two ways.

1) There is a search function on this page. It's kind of hidden. On a desktop or other horizontal (landscape) screen, at the top, near the center, to the right of the dark blue Rick Steves Europe logo, there is a magnifying glass and the word "search" in very light text. On a phone, tablet, or other vertical (portrait) screen, at the top left you'll see a bunch of horizontal bars. Press that, and at the very top (over "About Rick") is the search box. You can then select for Forums.

2) Go to Google and put in your search terms (for instance, "Train Oxford London" without the quotes). You will get an avalanche of results. Ignore them all, and near the top of the page, you will see the following options:

All Maps News Shopping Images More Settings Tools

Go to Settings, and choose "Advanced Search" and scroll down to "Site or Domain." In that box, put community.ricksteves.com to search these forums, or ricksteves.com to search the whole site.

I find that method number 2 is easier. Particularly to find one of my own posts, I just search for, for instance, "Harold gluten free Italy" and then restrict it to community.ricksteves.com, and voila!

Thanks all re: the search function. When I had tried it earlier it only brought me to blog posts, but I now can see I can select forum posts. I will edit my original post to reflect that.

As for the Tower, it looks like I will need a ticket for the top, but no details if it must be for after dinner (it is a 630 dinner until 830), or not. Also it does not say if we can go to the visitors center afterwards. I just sent them an email asking all of this, so hopefully they respond before the 22nd!
