Hello, I am going to Paris 10-14 June and try to buy a Eiffel tower (ET) ticket online. Today (I know it goes quickly) I see most time slots are available between 11-13 June. Since I don't have any itinerary for Paris yet, I would just like to pick the best time and date for viewing. Also, I am thinking about going to Versailles on Friday so probably Thursday or Saturday? Rick recommends sunset time I think, which will be around 9:30 PM in Paris in June (but I feel it is a bit late for me and my mother). Can you please share any tips/advice with me? I find this community is very helpful and look forward to another suggestions/tips. Thank you!
I really enjoyed being on the tower just before sunset and watching the lights come on in Paris. We were fortunate to be on tower during a lightening storm. It was perfectly safe. Even though it was raining, we didn't get wet on the second level because the wind was blowing and the tower above us blocked the rain. There is enough things to do on the second level to occupy your time while waiting for the lights to come on in the city.
I was also on the Eiffel Tower site today trying to buy tickets for my family of 6. Unfortunately, I waited too long (going early April) and nothing was available. This may be a stupid question, but that just means we have to stand in line to purchase tickets, correct? Is there a shorter line for tickets to take the stairs?
I think it's best if you see times available buy the tickets and then you can schedule your days around that . My wife and I did the Eiffel Tower one afternoon , then came back one night to see the tower lit up and enjoyed a glass of wine along the seine river . Then you can spend a day in versaille , take the 45 minute train ride , and be back in paris for the night ...enjoy
Chris,
Yes it means you have to stand in line. The line was 30 minutes long last a Tuesday, a cold, windy February evening about 5:00PM.... So plan for a wait.
