Eiffel Tower On-line tickets

All:

I am trying to buy advance on-line tickets to the Eiffel Tower and cannot get the correct format for my mobile phone number. I follow the format to call the US from Europe that Rick provides in his travel books and it is not accepted by the Tower's on-line tix system. The system responds either that the format is "incorrect" or "poor" depending on how I enter the number.

Please help,

Bob

It doesn't have to be your number, it just needs to be the right number of digits. I think it is 10 without spaces -- if it won't take your number in this format then 'steal' a French phone number from a web site and alter its last 4 digits slightly and try that.

Basically you have about 5 minutes to get tickets when they become available; they are routinely gone in 5 minutes or so.

I was having the same problem with getting the Eiffel Tower website to accept my mobile phone number. I even called the Eiffel Tower help line, but their info was incorrect. However, Janet's suggestion worked for me. Put in your mobile number with area code but no country code. No spaces.

You say the tickets are gone within 5 minutes. How far in advance can you purchase Eiffel Tower tickets? We're going next June, so I have time to plan ;-) Also, I see a place to log into your account, assuming you already have one. But I can find no page to actually create an account in the first place. Help?
ETA - OK, I see now that you have to actually place some tickets into your basket and try to check out before it allows you to create an account. So that part of my question is solved. But I'd still like to know how far in advance I can (and should!) order my tickets. Thank you.

Hi Bob,

They generally open up the online ticket sales 3 months in advance at 8:00 a.m. Paris time. I can tell you that I was online at 12:00 sharp (opening time in my timezone) to buy the tickets for our August visit and they were gone in seconds - I believe that tour companies and other 'bulk' buyers are buying them up, and the average person has a pretty hard time getting them for peak times. Perhaps it isn't as much of a problem in the offseason? Anyways, we ended up buying a 'tour' from Easy Pass Tours in order to get entrance at the time and day we wanted and skip the lines. The 'tour' consists of meeting at the tour office very near the Eiffel tower, walking over with a guide who gives you a bit of information and history, and then walks you up to the elevator for you to skip the lines. It cost more than the tickets by themselves of course, but it was worth it to us to bypass the 2.5 hour line (this was a couple of weeks ago). It may not be worth it to everyone, but we hate lines! Have a great time in Paris!
