’ve been attempting to purchase tickets for the Eiffel Tower on its official website. I am looking for 4 adult tickets to the second floor or the top whichever is available. For a couple of weeks now the website has been extending the dates to later and later ones when tickets will be available for online purchase.
Anyone know what is going on?
I'm doing the same thing and the date keeps extending. I am assuming I'll just have to walk up and hope to get a ticket. (looking to visit June 17-19... I know, same as everyone else)
I've also been having trouble booking tickets for 3 in a June timeframe even though I check the site almost daily, every time days get added. I wonder if there could also be tour companies purchasing large groups of tickets?
The usual day is 7 days out at 1 pm Paris time, so definitely be on line ready to buy then. The 60 day ticket dump has apparently been suspended.
What am I missing? I have never bought advance tickets to the Eifel Tower and I have never had a problem buying them when I wanted them. The last time I was there I had to wait in line for a while, but not for an unreasonably long time. It was certainly a shorter wait than you might experience at the Tea Cups ride at a Disney park. Waiting in line is not such a bad thing. It gave me some time to get some really great pictures that I might otherwise have raced right by. The architectural detail of the tower is fascinating.
I tend to avoid advance tickets for such easily accessible attractions so that I don't end up with such a specific schedule. That part of Paris is simply a fun place to wander. Doing it without the pressure of locked in timing is far more enjoyable.... in my opinion. And, the tower is not a pleasant experience in poor weather. I like to visit it on a nice clear day.
Mack, When did you last visit the Eiffel Tower?
Can't you get them at the nearest FNAC? Or through their website?
Earlier discussion on the difficulties of getting tickets.
I am getting more convinced the Olympic Committee has claimed 'dibs' and doling them out to the 'special people'
" Mack, When did you last visit the Eiffel Tower?"
I had to think about that.
It's been longer than I realized. I was last there in 2019. And before that, 5 or six times going back to the 90's.
There have always been lines unless you go in the evening. I've waited up to an hour in the past. What are the ticket wait times like now?
To Mack,
It has been a while since visiting the Eiffel Tower for me also, but from all I have read on the forum in the last year or so, things have changed mightily. Covid seems to have done a number on the ease of seeing many places throughout Europe. Alas, for many visitors, life has become more complicated. I wish all of those who want to go up the Eiffel Tower the best of luck and happy travels.
Thank you all for your comments. I’m hoping to get lucky.
Was there in early December last year. Booked the day before no problem.
According to reports in the UK news media today the reason for the delay in ticket release beyond mid June is that the Tower has been waiting for approval of a 20% price increase as and from 17 June.
This is related to increased maintenance costs and losses incurred during Covid, not Olympics related.
Approval of the price increase by the City Council is reported to have been granted today-
