Eiffel Tower after dark or no?

The only tickets available for our 3 days in Paris are after dark. Is it worthwhile to go up after dark or no?

One of my fondest travel memories is seeing the Tower light up after the installation of new lights and a redesign in 1985.

There is a reason Paris is called “ The City of Lights.”

So the answer to the question is yes.

There is something magical about being on the Eiffel Tower and looking out over Paris at night! I like the 2nd level best. I've been there 3-4 times and I never get tired of it.

I’ll be the odd man out. In our three visits to Paris we’ve never seen a reason to go up the tower, day or night. There are other places, e.g., Montematre, where one can get a good view of the city without having to pay, or fight the crowds. It’s a personal choice.

From what I've read online, Paris isn't very busy, you should be able to walk up and buy tix.

I'll state the obvious: seeing the view of Paris from the Eiffel Tower is rather magical day or night but only if the weather cooperates--it needs to be clear enough to experience that great view. The view at night is especially magical. While the view from the Arc de Triomphe is very nice, it is different and just not as high as the ET, therefore, it doesn't encompass as much. I haven't been for three years, but I loved getting some macarons and a glass of champagne while on the ET and experiencing the view at the same time. Très chic!
