My family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) will be traveling in Paris this summer - June 28-July 2. I have read that buying tickets for the Eiffel Tower in advance is a must if we want to save a lot of time waiting in line. I checked the Eiffel Tower website and so far they are only selling advance tickets through April 30th. What date do they usually open up summer ticket sales? I've heard they can sell out very quickly so I don't want to miss out!
they supposedly go on sale 3 mos before the date. I would start at 92 days before your date just so you don't misjudge and of course you are probably doing it in the middle of the night for opening time in Paris. The tickets can be gone in minute and you have a lot of tickets to buy quickly. Be sure to have a 10 diget phone number to enter (it doesn't even have to be real, but not having one often makes it impossible to close the deal on web sites -- they don't call you, it is an identifier) I would probably do a dry run beforehand on a date you don't want to see the process and be ready to go -- obviously you don't complete that sale.) There are no longer tickets available on the second floor for the top, so you do need to buy tickets to the top.
Hi bugsycar, tickets go on sale 90 days in advance at 8:30 a.m. Paris time. They do sell out quickly, sometimes in 20-30 minutes. Order from the official website. Good luck!
Thank you! I set reminders on my phone to make sure I'm ready to get the tickets right away!
Or, just walk up with no reservations at all!
Much cheaper, no time constraints, and better exercise than a gym membership.
What if it's raining or misty during your "reservation time"?
I think I prefer the walk up for the above reasons.
True, you can't get to the top level, but I'm happy with the views from level 2.
Shoe - so if one just wants to walk up, no reservation is necessary?
I don't really fancy going in a lift anyway - but I'd always daydreamed about climbing up the tower - so does this mean I could just turn up and walk up at whatever time suits me?
Or will I still need to book reservations if I want to catch a lift to the top (I understand that one can only access the very top by elevator)?
True, you can't get to the top level, but I'm happy with the views from level 2.
Can you not purchase tickets to the top at the same time you purchase tickets to take the stairs?
I don't know if you can purchase tickets to the top at the stairs entrance (I've never asked), but I rather doubt it, since I've heard you can no longer get tickets to the top at level 2. (I think it is a crowd control issue.)
Personally, I like the view from level 2 better than 3 (top) because you can still make out what you're looking at. AND the freedom of no set time, you can plan by the weather, etc.
Yes, at any time you want, you can just walk up to the leg with the shortest line (almost surely the walk up), pay about 7 euros and up you go at your own pace!
Shoe
You can purchase tickets to the top when you purchase your walk up ticket. The walk up ticket was about 7 Euro last I heard and you can buy an additional 6 Euro ticket for the elevator from 2 to 3 at the same time you buy the walk up ticket. You have to get the combo ticket at the bottom as they have closed the ticket booth on the second floor where until recently you could buy a ticket to the top.
Hi there,
Just piggybacking on to your post. I'm trying to buy tickets for 5/2/18 (so we are less than three months out as of today 2/6/18) but the latest date I can select is 4/30/18.
Any insight on why they haven't opened up May dates yet? I'm on the official Eiffel Tower website.
Thanks!
Gina
I just bought two tickets for April 21st at 8pm (the sun sets at 8:50 on that day) ( I had my choice of times all through the day)
The site was very easy fast and intuitive. Phone wise all you need is your US Mobile number.
Plenty of dates and times were available.
