Using the suggestions in the RS guidebook to prebook the elevator was very helpful. We waited about 45 min total to access the elevator. The views were spectacular. One hint check the time of sunset and realize that Paris seems to have long twilights before you book. Watching the lights come on over the city was magical. We also got great pics.
I am shocked that you had to wait 45 minutes with a timed ticket. Until the recent 'improvements' in ticket vending for the Eiffel Tower, a timed ticket got you on the elevator within about 5 minutes of your time.
We are going in the first week of April- I was just thinking of getting the ticket there and doing the stairs to the second level. It doesn't look like you can purchase the stairs online. Is that correct? Were the lines long for the stairs (if you know)?
No idea about the stairs. We try to avoid stairs.
