Are the views nice or just “eh”? I can skip the line and have lunch on the 1st. Floor. No reasonably priced tickets left for 2nd floor viewing and I don’t want to wait 2 hours to go up. I’ve read it’s very nice viewing from the Montparnasse Tower.

The advantage of the view from Sacre-Coeur is that you can SEE the Tower, and it's free.

I can confirm that the view from the Tour Montparnasse is indeed very nice. According to my Parisian friends, who find the M Tower very ugly, the other advantage is that you do not have it in your view!

Elevator tickets are sold to either the 2nd floor or the summit. You may have lunch on the 1st floor but you still much purchase tickets and without a prepurchased ticket, the wait will potentially be very long.
The views from the 2nd floor are spectacular, the views from the summit are stunning.

The tower is an astonishing structural monument. The view from the top was broad and beautiful but underwhelming. The views of the tower from across the main roadway, from afar, or from atop other structures was quite appealing.
