We will arrive at Gare L'est on a Saturday evening in August with our 7 & 10 year old. Our hotel is nearby. What would be your dinner recommendation in the area for our family of 4? Bear in mind... it will be mid-August, so we hope you will recommend places that will be open! Thanks.

The brasseries around Gare de l'Est will be open all day long and do not close in August. You can get food - breakfast, lunch or dinner - all day long.
La Strasbourgeoise is right across the street from the station.
Or, you could take about a 15 minute walk to Hippopotamus and get a decent hamburger.

Brasseries are great with kids. Another place we used to take them was Chartier:

You could probably walk there, but most kids would consider it too far to walk from Gare de l'Est.
