Eating an evening meal on Mont Saint Michel on a Sunday in October

We're staying overnight on the Mont Saint Michel with our two kids (age 11 and 13) at the end of October. It'll be a Sunday. I have already set my expectations low for the standard of the food. But when I've checked a couple of places they aren't taking bookings- so I am assuming they are closed on Sundays. My question is, how easily will we be able to get food on the mont on a Sunday evening in October? Should i persist in trying to book somewhere or will we just be able to wing it? I don't expect it to be busy, I'm more worried it'll be closed.

Oh, and we don't like Omlettes, so that rules one place out!

If you google "restaurants open on Sunday Mont St Michel", several options show on the map that opens up.

We had dinner in May at Hotel de Guesclin, probably the nicest restaurant on the island. They do (did) not take reservations, told us to just be there at opening and seating would be no problem...which was true. White tablecloth kind of place, great views across the marsh. Dinner was good, not exceptional - no complaints. Street will be deserted when you finish, great time to walk the village and the ramparts. Also can stroll out to the causeway and enjoy the night lighting if you can stay up long enough.

If nothing on the island works out, you could enjoy a very good dinner at Ferme Saint Michel, which is not on the island but easily reached by the shuttle bus. We ate there June, 2025 and their website indicates that they are open on Sunday. If you go there you might want to opt for an earlier dinner so you can enjoy seeing the lights on the mont when you return. You could also, before your dinner, walk along the river and check out the mechanics of the barrier

I have also eaten at Hotel de Guesclin. It was quite nice and the food was fine. No, it isn't a Michelin star restaurant, but I remember the food being fine, the service good and the view spectacular.

Thanks both. I don't seem to be able to book the restaurant Hotel de Guesclin, and confusingly their website tells me it is only open for lunch but also that it closes at 8.30pm. I think we may have to just wing it!

Guesclin told me this spring they do not make reservations. Just be there at opening time. Np problems with a good table.

We have eaten at the Guesclin as well and they serve earlier than most French restaurants -- either 6:30 or 7 and stop service early. The view was magnificent as the sun set and the food was fine. Typical average French restaurant 3 course menu. You wouldn't go out of your way to get there for the food, but it was fine.
