My mother and I will be doing the Rick Steves Loire Valley tour starting on a Monday at 5 pm. We'll likely arrive in Chartres on Sunday early afternoon, so we'll have a lot of free time. I was thinking of a trip by train to Maintenon on Monday morning, but unfortunately that's the only day the palace is closed. We'll have time to explore Chartres after the Cathedral on Tuesday, so I'm looking for someplace we can get to easily by train that we can do Monday.
