Has anyone done individual travel after their RS tour using TGV from Aix to MRS? On the web it looks like there is a train every half hour or so from Aix to MRS but I note that in Aix there are two railway stations which could cause some confusion if you end up at the wrong rail station. Looks like a taxi is about E50 while the train is E4.30 quite a difference and with the train you won't run into vehicle traffic on a Monday morning as I intend to stay a couple of nights after the tour in Aix. Thank you for any assistance.
the airport info doesn't show a train to the airport from Aix. See https://www.marseille-airport.com/access-car-parks/access/by-train-or-by-bus
From Aix's bus station (Gare Routiere), it's easy to get a bus to the airport.
From Aix-en-Provence Ville rail station, it's easy to get a train to the city of Marseille.
Neither destination requires a special trip to Aix TGV station, which is out of town and reached by bus, but the airport bus #17 does stop there en-route between Aix and the airport. See also https://www.info-ler.fr/53-Rechercher-une-ligne.html.
Thank you all for your replies. It is somewhat confusing on the websites about rail from AIX to MRS. Looks like the bus is the way to go as then you don't have to transfer in Marseille to get to the airport. Great information.
Very helpful link to the Marseille Provence airport: https://www.marseille-airport.com/
If you plan on using the SNCF TGV trains, recently rebranded, the shuttle bus from Marseille airport (about 20 minutes) may be included in the train ticket price.
There is also regional train service to Avignon and other points west. That's a different bus shuttle to a nearby train station, only about five minutes and included in your train ticket. Note that when the rail web shows "one stop" it means the bus connection.
