The French Easter School holidays are expected to be about the last two weeks in April and into May.
I'm planning a trip down the western side of France during that time. For our France based contributors or those who have traveled in this area during that time period (in the past), how bad will the crowds be? Is this normally a time that French families travel in those areas?
France is divided into three zones for the school vacation, each zone has different but overlapping dates for their spring break. The first zone begins on April 5th and the last zone finishes May 4th. The three zones overlap only on April 19-21st, not a good weekend to be driving on the autoroute. You'll have 2/3 of schools on vacation April 12-18 and April 22-27. You don't specify where on the western side of France, but I haven't traveled there during spring break, in any case.

From Brittany down to the Spanish Border. If I return to Toulouse it will be the furthest east I go.
