easiest way to get from Mont-St.-Michel to Marseille?

I have to go to a wedding near Mont-St.-Michel and will arrive there by train from Paris to Granville. I need to go to Marseilles after that, by the fastest and least-hassle means possible. I can get a train from Granville to Rennes, and there are trains from Rennes to Marseille, but they all route back through Paris first. Would it be best to just rent a car in Paris and do the whole trip driving? Or take a rountrip train Paris-Granville-Paris, and fly from Paris to Marseille? Any advice appreciated!

Driving would definitely not be fastest. You can get flights to Marseille from Rennes. A couple of them are non stop.

Travelling in France can be a bit tricky if you are not going to or from Paris. France is in general very Paris-centric. But the quickest way from Rennes to Marseille is probably via Paris as that routes means you travel on TGVs all the way. Unfortunately you have to change station in Paris.

You say "near" Mont Saint Michel so I assume it is closer to Granville.
Low cost airlines Volotea flies from Caen to Marseille 2x per week; if you can get to Caen and if the days work with your schedule, that would be fastest.
Otherwise by train, the fastest is to backtrack from Granville to Paris and Paris to Marseille. You can book it all on one ticket with SNCF, but you will have to take the bus (91), metro (6 to Bercy then 14) or a cab (recommended) between Gare Montparnasse-Vaugirard and Gare de Lyon stations. While 60 minutes is technically enough for the transfer, you'd be more comfortable with 75.
