We are staying at the Hotel Lenox (Paris) in July. We are planning to visit Versailles (taking an early train, between 7 and 8 am ) and we were wondering how easy it is to grab a coffee/pastry near the hotel before setting out for the day. We don't plan to eat breakfast at the hotel. Thank you!
If you are taking a TER train to Versailles from Gare Montparnasse, there is a Paul location in the station. There is also an Eric Kayser location on Rue du Depart across from/near the station.
You are close to the Tour Montparnasse which I think has some options in the ground level shopping center. But check on the small cross street, rue de Montparnasse (not the big boulevard du Montparnasse) that is across the street to the left of the Hotel. It's where the crêperies are as described in the RS guide. I think there was a cafe on that street. Or better, just ask at the front desk.
{edit} actually, a quick look at google maps shows about three cafes just a block or two west on Delambre.
For something that early, just go to one of the places in the Gate Montparnasse before catching your train.
Thank you all for your time and consideration!
