We'll be in Paris in October. Any tips on finding early open places for coffee and tea in the 14th arrondisement?
The 14th covers a lot of territory. How early is early? Sit down or takeaway?
Have you looked at Google Maps?
Yes, just like "moderate" for hotel pricing, "early" means different things to different people. My early would be Canadian Allan's way too late.
Many bakeries have coffee facilities and bakeries usually open at 7 am. Paris is not an early morning town.
Too true! Our early would be around 8:00 am. We will be staying near 2 blvd jourdan. Thank you so much for any info
Can't speak to Paris, but many places we have been have the same issue. Cafes, unless they target the "blue collar" crowd, rarely open before 9 AM, as someone said, bakeries can be a good possibility, the other would be some of the bigger coffee chains. Might not want to hear it, but Starbucks will be open early, and busy with lots of locals.
2 Bd. Jourdan is in a redeveloped residential area with some shops (stadium across the boulevard). It’s called La Porte de Gentilly and has always had a couple of cafes. But, it’s as far out in the 14th as you can get. Bd Jourdan is one of the ring roads served by some buses and the ring road tram, which you can take to the Porte d'Orleans or Porte d'Italie metro stations, and you are a few hundred meters to the RER B Cité Universitaire, a housing village for international students. I haven't been on the ground there for a decade, but when I was, there wasn't a lot. So you'll have to look around for a bakery in the area, or get supplies to make coffee yourself because that looks like an apartment building at 2 Bd Jourdan. If some of those buildings are offices, you might be able to find a coffee shop. The good news is that you are close to the Parc Montsoursis, a lovely place for an early morning walk or run.
