Dunkirk, Calais

We will be arriving in Calais from London crossing the channel and touring war memorials between Dunkirk, Vimy, Somme and wonder where you would suggest we stay a night in that region? We know we can't see everything in one day so will need to spend a night around that area before driving down to Paris.

Depends what you want to or can see the first day. Is it only Dunkirk and Vimy Ridge guess you will have enough time to drive further to the Somme. Dunkirk itself as a tourist destination is not so directly to prefer so likely the only thing you are going to do there is visiting the Operation Dynamo museum and the memorial at the nearby beach. Maybe there is more to see, you can ask in the museum if they speak English(?).

Worth to stay after the visit to Vimy Ridge is Arras, really nice place with two beautiful main squares. But if you want to spend more time in the Somme region you can stay in Amiens or in Albert. The latter not too far from Thiepval and Beaumont-Hamel. I have driven through Albert last April, it’s not the most beautiful place, but it is vibrant and has a good atmosphere, somehow I liked the place.

Plan carefully as there is so much more to see that two days is actually not enough, however enough for the places you mention.
