- We will be driving from Bilbao to Chartres to begin the RS tour Loire to the South trip this September after a wedding. We will have 4 days to cover about 450 miles. Any ideas which cities to spend the night and/or places to stop? We don't want to see the same places we will be seeing on our tour such as Chenonceau, Chinon, Amboise or Villandry.
- Also, is it still very expensive to rent a car in Spain and then drop it off in France? Thanks so much in advance.

Just a reply to question 2. Yes, renting a car in one country and returning it in another can cost anywhere from €500 - €900 just for the drop fee. My suggestion would be to take the bus to Bayonne, spend the night and then pick up your rental there.
