As part of our 3 1/2 week trip in September/October we will be driving from the Huertgen Forest to Bayeux (6 hours). I am visiting the area where my uncle fought and won the Bronze Star during WW II. AFter Bayeux (4 days) we will be driving to Bruges where we will be turning in the car. I am looking for a place to stop about halfway to Bayeux where we can stretch our legs and see some sights. Any ideas ?? Thanks folks
I am sure it is no news to you that you will be making two legs of an extremely narrow triangle.
You are basically going out to Normandy and then returning almost to your origination point.
Is there any chance of doing this is a different order?
In any event both Amiens and Rouen have attractive parts, food and rest.
We will be flying out of Amsterdam at the end of our trip. I have another promise to keep in Normandy so after the Huertgen Forest I need to go to Bayeux. You are right about that triangle but to do what I want to do, I had no other choice. From there we will need to drive back into Belgium (Bruges for 3 days) and the take a train to Haarlem for 4 days before flying back to Boston.
Thanks for the advice about possible stop over places. Rick
