Driving Nice to Bonnieux/Luberon

Hello,
Planning to drive Nice to Luberon to Carcassone to Bandol and back to Nice Airport this July over 8 days.
When mapping it, I am noticing what seems to be a challenging journey as in “impassable” and also tolls etc...

Any advice?

Thanks!

Elly

what do you mean about "impassable"? The area is honeycombed by dozens of N, D and A routes. What is your concern? What are mapping with? A map? or an app?

It's not so impassable as a lot of distance with a whole lot of interesting territory inbetween Carcassone and Bonnieux. Most of the journey will be spent on the uninteresting toll highways, the A8/A7/A9, if you want to cover the distance the fastest. Stuff really only gets super interesting once you get off the A roads and onto the smaller roads.

Nice to Bonnieux is an easy 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 hours via the A8 but there are more interesting, slower routes.

Thing you need a large scale paper road map. Definately not impassable!

We also plan to drive from Nice to Bonnieux. We had read that if you use the motorways it can still be very scenic from Aix to Bonnieux.

If you had a full half a day (5 hours) to drive, which scenic route Wouk did you suggest?

You are right Caro. My comment on taking the motorway was not clearly worded. What I meant was that we would travel on the motorway from Nice to Aix and then on the smaller D roads for the last part of the drive from Aix to Bonnieux. Thought we might stop in Loumarin and have a look on the way.
