Driving from Saint Remy to Beynac on May 1

Any advice on driving route from Saint Remy to Beynac? Should we take the shorter route on A9 and A 61 or should we take A9 and A75 and stop in Carcassone? May 1 is a holiday in France and I don't know how much that would affect a short visit to Caecassone with a meal. Any suggestions?
