After spending one night in Mont Saint Michel, we would like to spend a couple of nights in Sarlat. Since it is a 7 hour drive, I need suggestions on places to stop or maybe spend another night on our way there.

Well you could stop in Angouleme or Limoges and see Oradour-sur-Glane the next morning before continuing on to Sarlat, It's sobering, to be sure, but it's an important site.

Thank you both for your replies. We will definitely stop at Oradour-sur-Glane, this is great.
I had no ideas there were cameras, thanks for the tip.

Glad to see you'd be interested in a stop at Orator-sur-Glane. It is indeed sobering.
We stayed nearby at Mortmarte at Hotel le Relais several years back and had a wonderful meal and a nice room. Up-to-date reviews seem to focus mostly on the restaurant. Also in Mortmarte is a B&B called Ancien Couvent des Carmes, which gets great reviews on Trip Advisor.
It would be a good way to break up the drive from MSM to Sarlat.
