Driving from Lyon to Nice and back again.

In mid September we are planning to drive south from Lyon and then along the southern coast to Nice. We need to return to Lyon by car. Any suggestions on the best routes we can take back to Lyon without retracing our path? We are not crazy about high mountain driving. Thanks in advance. Cindy
