recommended places to stay and wineries to visit-Burgundy

My husband, Barley (our dog), and myself will be driving from Lago Maggiore to Normandy next week, where we will join my brother and sister-in-law for part of their vacation in north east France. According to google maps, driving time is about 11 hours. (A40 to A6 to A13). We plan on two days for the drive and need a place to stop about half way (or 4-6 hours into our drive. Looks like someplace near Dijon might close to the half way point. Any small towns, B&B's, hotels in that vicinity that we should consider. We'll be leaving Verbania, IT about 10:30-11:00 am after picking up rental car, so we'd arrive around 5-6:00 or so. Need a place where we can do a bit of walking around town to take the edge of Barley. Any ideas of towns or B&B's?

Since Burgundy is halfway point, now looking at Beaune and plan to spend 3 nights 2 days.
Any recommendations? Would like to keep under 100€/night.

Beaune is a great base of operations. I visited a few wineries that were lovely. But you should always call or e-mail them ahead and make an appointment. Not every winery allows visitors without appointments.

Here are some good ones:

Château de Corton C
Domaine René and François Leclerc in Gevrey Chambertin
and domaine D'Ardhuy.

You should also visit château de clos Vougeot. A wonderful historic site regarding wine making.
