Driving from CDG to Mt. St. Michel

We will be driving from CDG to a hotel in MSM in late June. Is there a recommended route that will keep us on good roads but offer the opportunity to sample local cheeses (Camembert, for instance) and perhaps the strong cider beverage?

Are you making this drive on the same day you land in France from a transatlantic flight?? You should know that many here would actively recommend against such a plan. Jet lag can equal impaired driving, and this is not a short drive. On your previous thread, there were quite a few recommendations to take the train to Rennes, and rent the car there. From Rennes it's only an hour's drive.

Please wait until you are finished driving for the day before indulging in the cider. The legal alcohol limit in France is lower than in the US.

Appreciate the prompt response. We will be in Sweden the preceding 2 weeks so will have only a 2 hour flight that day. Should be OK for driving. The cider advice is appreciated so maybe we can buy a bottle for consumption at the hotel.

You can by-pass Paris by following the N104 just north of CDG direction A15 / Cergy-Pontoise. There A15 direction Rouen, soon (11km) exit to D28 / Meulan-Les Mureaux till you see signs A13 for going to Normandy.

can only assume you will be doing this in one hop? we drove from MSM to Giverny ( stop overnight then onto CDG) last year in june
its about 380kms. so I can't imagine you will get much time in the day to sample anything.
the freeways are very good along that route, so you can make good time. 'but'' they were very busy with traffic when we drove it.

as a bit of a break from driving we called into Villedieu-les-Poêles
to see the bell foundary

and happened upon their local market day. a nice change from sitting on the freeway mile after mile.
I am sure you will find places to see and enjoy, but give your self some time.
