We will be driving from Bayeux to Amboise in May. It's an almost 4 hour drive. Does anyone have any suggestions of where to stop about halfway. We are looking for a quaint town where we can have lunch and stretch our legs. Thanks.
I suggest with my heart and soul LE PETIT VATEL in Alençon. Alençon itself is a charming little town and LE PETIT VATEL is without a doubt the place I had my best meal this year. I still salivate thinking about the dessert chariot where I had a life-altering Baba au rhum. It's high cuisine, but small-town style. Very unpretentious, the owners are as charming as can be. You'll thank me. :)
Or the historic centre of Le Mans, worth to combine with Alençon.
