We are driving from Lake Annecy to Gordes in mid July as part of our driving holiday in south of France. Would you have any suggestions on the most scenic route to take and any noteworthy stops along the way.
We are staying overnight in Gordes and planning to visit the Senanque Abbey the following morning. Do you need to make advance reservations to visit the Abbey and see the Lavender fields
Our next destination is Aix en Provance. Please do also share the good stops between Gordes and Aix en Provence
We will be driving from Annecy to Saint Didier, which is not very far from Gordes. We plan to stop for a few hours in Vaison and explore the Roman ruins there.
Vaison La Romaine is a good place to stop. Although it's a little off the route, it could be combined with Nyons, which is beautiful. Orange would also be a good choice, but in my opinion Fontaine de Vaucluse is a total tourist trap.
