Driver service in southern France

We are planning to attend a wedding in June in La Malene, France, which appears to be in a mountainous part of southern France. I wanted to see if anyone could recommend a driving service in that area. We are planning to fly into either Toulouse or possibly Montpellier and transfer to/from La Malene from there. I would appreciate any recommendations. Thanks.

Have you asked the wedding folks for advice? It is a bit of a jaunt by bus or train from Toulouse .... looks like 3 hours. You could rent a car, though. I would be inclined to send regrets.

"I would be inclined to send regrets."

An invitation to attend a wedding in a foreign country, especially one this far off the beaten path, I would jump on. This to me is an offer of a life time. Rent a car, driving in France is no big deal.

Agree with Norma that the host should have info for the invitees to a remote location of that sort.

You can get some idea of the options by looking at rome2rio.com

Presumably this is a beloved family member to go to that much bother.

If you decide to not go tell them your friends from California will attend in your absence and send me the invitation! I’d fly into Marsielle, overnight to shake the jet lag, rent a car. It looks like a 4 hour drive.

La Malene is little more than 2 hours from Montpellier. The trip is mostly autoroute except for the last 30 kms and only the last perhaps 15kms to 20kms of that is through a somewhat mountainous area (D43). I would not necessarily drive it at night but in June, it won´t be dark until well after 10pm. The last segment of road is not dangerous but speeds used will be minimal.

You could take a pre arranged taxi from the airport, it will be expensive. Are you spending the night at la Malene?

Our daughter just married this fall in a castle in the Dordogne and they suggested routes for all of the guests, as well as car service suggestions from the local train station. So definitely find out from the couple or the parents !

Marrying in the Dordogne, we still suggested a Paris round trip because the RT flights on Norwegian were under $450. You could do the same and take the TGV into Lyon or Toulouse and then rent a car for the remainder of the trip. Driving around La Malene is just delightful and enchanting - you might be able to stay extra days to explore.....You've already traveled a long distance....

I've spent a little time in that area, and might have even made a brief stop in La Malene. While driving might be a little trickier getting deeper into the Cevennes, I don't remember the drive in the La Malene area being a problem. The Montpellier airport is only 2 hours from there, and Toulouse is one hour further. The drive from either shouldn't be too difficult, unless you're arriving from an overnight flight that day.
