Drive-Yourself Boat Tour - Recs or companies to avoid?

Hey gang,

Over four years ago we did a great trip on the Canal Du Midi with 3 other couples. The downside was that our boat company, Les Canalous, was not great. (I was slightly considering going with them again but after re-reading my previous trip report, I think probably not).

That said, can anyone give a decent recommendation of a company you've either hired from or heard firsthand good things about? Similarly, if you've had a bad experience, or know someone who did, could you tell me who to avoid?

Right now we're looking at renting with Le Boat or Crisboat for the river Lot, although we're open to doing Burgundy as well. We don't have a ton of flexibility as we're at least 7 people, possibly 10 (a which point we'd just have to rent two boats, I think) and all the couples want their own bathroom. That puts us in the luxury model boat no matter what unless we split.

The reason we're considering the Lot is because I'd like the natural beauty and the option to swim, but we're also open to doing the Canal Du Midi again, starting further west (Carcasscone or further) or go deeper into the Camarague than we did last time. Also considering Burgundy but due to the boats available we'd also have to split up. I'm not against the idea but I think it would raise the price considerably.

Anyway now I'm getting into the planning weeds but would love to hear opinions on the different companies!

I know more about canal boating in the UK, but I can say that I don't think that I have ever heard a bad word against LeBoat.

I haven't heard of Crisboat.

Happy planning.

Thanks, LeBoat provides the most options in terms of boats and locations so we'll probably book with them! I wish they were a little cheaper like Les Canalous but it may be that you get what you pay for.
