Drive or take train from Blois to Montparnasse

We will have a rental car in Beaune, then going on to Blois or Amboise in the Loire Valley for 2 nights. Is the traffic/driving difficult when one comes in to Paris from the Loire area? We would then drop off the car at the Montparnasse train station. If we take the train from Loire area, Auto Europe only has a car drop off in Tours , so we would have to drive to that city, find the station to drop off the car and then catch the train. Appreciate input on Paris traffic on the left bank side - just to get to the Montparnasse station area.

Having driven a rental car from Gare Montparnasse to the Autoroute heading toward the Loire region, I'd say drop off your car. You could drive to Orly airport and drop it off there. That might be easier than dropping off in Tours, since you're not going to be all that close to Tours. Also, finding your way around in Tours isn't easy, IMO.

The worst option, IMO, would be to drive through Paris to Gare Montparnasse.

Who is your car hire with? Autoeurope is an aggregator.

It is likely, if you have hired through autoeurope, that the hire car company is at Saint Pierre des Corps station. It's easy to get to, you don't have to drive through Tours to get there from Amboise, and it takes about 20 minutes (although even if you did have to drive through Tours, it's an easy city to drive in, I do it in a large 70 year old car with no problems during rush hour). Driving hrough Tours is infinitely easier than driving to Paris Montparnasse.

From Saint Pierre des Corps station the TGV takes an hour to get to Paris Montparnasse.

Agree with all that Simon says . As long as your rental is with one of the companies with an office at St Pierre des Corps, it is really easy to get to from Amboise, then just hop on the train back to Paris. Just make sure you check their open hours.

Thanks. I think there were 2 choices for drop off - Saint Pierre de Corps and Gare de Tours. Sanit Pierre sounds pretty easy to find from Amboise.

also Saint Pierre des Corps has the faster trains to Paris.
