We will be driving from Honfleur to Bayeux on a Wednesday. Hoping to stop at Trouville, then a ciderie—either Christian Droiun or Domaine Dupont, leaning toward the latter. Then Beuvron-au-Auge, possibly doing lunch there. I was looking into a cheese stop, but I think Livarot and the Graindorge cheese factory may be too much of a detour for us (we still want to do a little touring around Bayeaux in late afternoon). If anyone can recommend any other stops for us en route, happy to hear about them. Thanks!
I spent some time walking around both Deauville and Cabourg while I was in that area. I didn't have a car, so my practical options were somewhat limited. I also went to the WWII museum in Falaise that focuses on the civilian experience during the war, though it also addresses Resistance activities.
There's quite a lot to see in Bayeux (cathedral, Bayeux tapestry, historic center, invasion museum), so keep that in mind.
The coastal road -D513- from Honfleur to Trouville is scenic. Lovely scenery with half-timbered houses with thatched roofs. If you drive this road in the opposite direction you will see the harbour of Le Havre and actually spoils the view, but not in the direction you plan to do. Deauville has a few nice streets at the backside of the casino.
Edited: Livarot needs indeed a serious detour, but more north Bonbosque and Cambremer are charming too. Pont l'Évêque is charming but not outstanding where you certainly can find some cheese shops.
Thanks, Will. Noting 513 as the road to take! We'll head north up to the Pays d'Auge from Trouville.
Hi amy, added a few things in the meanwhile.
