Drive from Annecy to Moustiers Sainte Marie to St. Remy

We plan to rent a car in Annecy and drive to Moustiers Sainte Marie, stay 2 nights, then drive to St. Remy for several days. How is this drive? Will it take us 4 hours from Annecy to Moustiers? Do we drive through any major cities/towns? Any sites to stop at?
What towns/sites are day trips from Moustiers? Or do we just spend our time in this village?

Thank you all.

I gasped when I caught my first glimpse of Moustiers. Don't drop it. Official websites will show you all the things you can do in the area. We were there one March, so your weather should be similar. I can't tell you anything about the drive from Annecy.

I've driven many times between the Annecy area and Provence. It is a beautiful drive, whatever option you choose.
My suggestion for a direct yet scenic route is:

  1. Annecy to Albertville along lake Annecy
  2. A430/A41 to Grenoble
  3. A51/D1075 to Sisteron (worth a quick stop)
  4. A51 to Oraison then local roads to Moustiers via Valensole

It should take about 5 hours. D1075 is a 2-lane road with significant traffic, so you have to be alert there, but it is not too winding after the first section.

Thank you Balso-your details definitely help! In Moustiers-would it be better to stay in the town since we have a short time there? I have seen several lovely B&Bs outside the town but it would mean driving back and forth to town.

There is not a lot of accommodation in the village of Moustiers, if I remember correctly, and there is plenty of parking at the bottom of the village, so it does not matter too much!
