My partner and I would like to have a drink at the Bar Negresco in Nice (I understand the Versailles Bar may be closed for the winter) but we are not staying at the hotel. Rick makes it sound a little awkward to get into the hotel for the drink. We’d also like to walk around inside after the drink, following Rick’s suggested walk-around. Sounds beautiful.
Has anyone done this and how was the experience? We’ll be there in a couple of weeks.
Thanks!
It's no problem. Just tell the doorman why you want to go inside and go have your drink and walk around. We went in for a coffee a few days before the first confinement in 2020. It's worth seeing the art work and use les toilettes.
Elizabeth, many thanks for your reply. Perfect idea for us!
We plan on doing exactly the same on our October trip.
It is our tradition to have a cocktail or glass of wine at hotels that we simply cannot afford to stay at and we've done it all round the world.
I was reading Rick Steve's France guide last night and read that this couldn't be done at the Negresco, so I am pleased to find that is incorrect.
Great to know! Using les toilettes is a great suggestion too. We will be there in late May.
