How formal are the dress codes (for men) for dinner at most upscale restaurants in Paris? Trying to pack as light as possible. :-) Thanks.
I usually pack a travel blazer from Eddie Bauer on my big city trips. Never a tie. While my fine dining rarely exceeds Michelin one star places, I have never been underdressed. In fact, most people there are dressed considerably more casual than I. In fact, I recall never even wearing the blazer out during our last Paris trip in October.
A good rule is to dress like you would for a similar restaurant here. There will always be people dressed more casually then you, even in Paris.
Be sure and dine at L’Ange 20. Best meal we had there by a mile. If you go, order the chicken gizzards. Seriously, even my kids wolfed them down.
