Ugh!
I am normally perfect at planning my itinerary (after obsessing over planning due to excitement lol) and I told my husband that weâre have a pretty open schedule (which we planned on for a majority of the time). Welp⊠I accidentally bought tickets for Musee Marmottan for the morning of the 15th AND an afternoon trip to St. Denis (which if you havenât been there-go!). This was after I literally going over my schedule. I emailed Musee Marmottan to see if I can change the date and havenât heard back yet. Worst case Iâm out 29 Euro. Anyone able adjust ticket dates?
Thank you in advance!
I have done this sort of thing. It is annoying isn't it. You can't change tickets. We just ate the cost; stupid tax is sometimes paid. A small cost in the context of the trip -- but annoying.
I emailed Musee Marmottan to see if I can change the date and havenât heard back yet.
Please note: tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded

I did something along these same lines this week. A friend said she is going to be on Amsterdam on a February weekend, so I decided I will go meet her there. Bought my Eurostar tickets.
Thank goodness a couple of nights ago, I decided to import my travel and hotel plans into TripIt ...because when I looked at the new entry, it said something like "trip in 32 days, trip length 34 days."
*34 days ?? * What?? I am just going for Friday plus the weekend ....
Went back to check my tickets, and I had bought my return ticket for March instead of February. Oops !!!
I went online to change my ticket, and paid the âŹ30 additional to get a ticket for a February return date !!
I didn't love spending that money -- which is almost exactly what you have "lost" -- but boy was I glad to find this mistake now and rectify it instead of figuring it out when I went to board my Feb 15 train and had to buy a ticket on the spot !!!
So yes unfortunately it happens to all of us at some point !
But if you haven't been to Musée Marmottan and have been to St. Denis, I highly recommend the museum. It is one of my favorites, and is in a quieter part of town you may not otherwise visit.
Kim, I know the French love the long weekend, but 34 days in Amsterdam would be a bit too long for me!
Danielle, maybe the Marmottan will make an exception for you. Do they still have tickets available for sale?
I recently paid some âstupid taxâ as Janet refers to it! My daughter & I had train tickets, going to cities from Austria to France for the Christmas Markets. The last train ticket was the wrong date! I didnât notice it, two train employees didnât notice it, but when the train conductor scanned the QR code, it gave an error. It was an âouchâ fine, but in the scheme of how much money we saved going the method that I travel, it was okay. Fortunately, the date of my tickets was two days later, so one of the conductors told me I could refund our original tickets.
My younger daughter had this happen when she bought our Milan Duomo tickets, and we think she mixed up the âSaturday, not Sundayâ because some of the on-line calendars show Sunday in the position weâre used to seeing Saturday- at the end of the days-of-week.
When I have had a few reserved activities I didnât do (or Covid restrictions prevented it), I just considered it a contribution to the country/city I am visiting and donât worry about it.
No help with your dilemma but I, too, have paid the âstupid taxâ once or twice. I think if you travel enough, itâs inevitable.
It is also important to double check dates before you click buy especially on trains -- I have when booking from the US selected a date and then have it change between that and the buy page -- I am not sure why that happens but I think it is a time zone thing.
We sat next to two British couples traveling from Vienna to Prague on the train and they had had their wallets stolen -- both men -- while boarding the train. They were busy cancelling credit cards. And then the conductor came by and their tickets were for the wrong day and so they were advised to get off and buy new tickets at the next stop. One of the guys said 'It isn't our day, our wallets were stolen getting on the train -- and the conductor said they had found the wallets in the trash. Alas only the cash not the cards was taken so they could have saved the credit card hassle but at least they got their IDs back. Stuff happens if you travel long enough.
Thank you all!
At least Iâm not alone đ. Iâve been to St. Denis during Christmastime but I want to go back. I have room in my schedule to rebook Marmottan for another day (thank God!). We arenât going to the Eiffel Tower, Conciergerie, St. Chapelle, Catacombs etc since we have gone several times.
Kim-
Thank you got mentioning TripIt! Iâm settng that up nowđ
It appears to be 22 minutes by taxi between the two, so couldn't you do both in one day, depending on your ticket times?
The Musée Marmottan is not a big museum requiring many hours to see.
S J,
My tickets at Marmottan are at 10:45. St. Denis is 2:30 (theres an activity that we booked- Visite atelier famille Linogravure). Do you think thatâs doable? Any idea how much a taxi might cost?
Jean M
Looks like there should be plenty. Every day from today through to the day we get there are open.
Yup, I've done it too. Booked the Kilmainham Gaol tour and the 14 Henrietta St. tour without giving myself enough time to finish one and get to the other. Although the Kilmainham Gaol website said no refunds, I emailed them anyways. They refunded my money. So you never know. If I didn't get a refund I was going to leave the tickets with the front desk of the hotel just in case someone came by looking for what to do suggestions.
Trotter,
Good to hear that! Iâll be crossing my fingers, although I might try to hit both. Eeek!
Even on the metro it looks like less than an hour of travel timeâŠI think you can do both!
My âoops!â story: Last year, I booked a flight for one week & my hotel for the next weekâŠfor a work trip. Fortunately, I realized a couple weeks out and it turned out the flight was correct & it was easy to change my hotelâŠand cheaper! But I did miss out being able to tack on extra fun days before the work thing started since the hotels were so much more expensive that second week.
