We are going on the RS Basque Country tour in May. After the tour we plan to bus back to Bayonnne from Bilbao, rent a car and drive around the Dordogne region. I already have reservations at Le Vieux Logis in Tremolat for two nights. We want to visit Sarlat and Lascaux IV to see the cave reproductions and mostly just drive through the countryside and experience the villages. We are planning at least a week in the area after which we will turn the car back in Bordeaux and train to CDG to fly home. Between the end of the tour on a Saturday to our reservation in Tremolat we have 3 nights. I would really like to find somewhere between Bayonne and the Dordogne that would be a reasonable drive after the bus trip and then other ideas both before and after Tremolat. I'd love any ideas you have.

Just make sure every meal includes potatoes fried in duck fat.

Less expensive than the hotel.
We enjoyed our stay at Le Vieux Logis.
