On a whim, decided to check the Pech Merle website just now to see if tickets were available for when we are in the Dordogne late August. Was I ever shocked to find that not only was my date of choice open, but that we had the option of two tours in English- 11:15 and 2:15!
It appears that the calendar has opened up for summer. I hope this helps all forum followers who are visiting the Dordogne and hoping to snag tickets for a Pech Merle!!!
The only time we visited, we just drove up and got tickets on the spot and there very few visitors; of course if you know you will be there, always wise to book when you can. We also never had trouble getting tickets for Roffignac or the Lascaux recreations.
Oh, how I wish I'd seen this earlier in the day. I checked last week to no avail... anyway, I needed to wait for my Font de Gaume dates to open up, as that was priority #1 for scheduling. Got that taken care of today, then went to check PM... no more English tours for my dates (last week of May). Oh well, we'll make do with the French tour and an English booklet.
