When does booking open for Pech Merle and Grotte de Font-de-Gaume? I have both websites bookmarked but nothing appears available anytime! We will be staying in Sarlat from 22-26 August.

Last year the tickets for July for Font de Gaume were available in mid May. The tickets for Abri de Cap Blanc in July weren't available until (edit) early July

I just checked the site - for Font-de-Gaume. Today (19 March) you can book March and April. Not yet for May.

Been checking regularly et voila! Not for our dates yet, but both cave websites are showing availability within the next month en francais! Even tours in English at Pech Merle are being offered for booking. Luckily my rudimentary French will enable me to purchase our tickets as soon as possible.

Pech Merle...as you must know...great. One of the best caves. Even without the paintings, the cave is worth a 'cave' visit. But the art work...and the cave's nature features...wow.
