My Best of Paris Tour itinerary tells me I get free time some afternoons. Give me suggestions what to do!
Since most people here won't know what's included on the itinerary, your best bet is to compare the itinerary to suggestions in the guidebook that appeal to your interests.
Also, your guide will be a great resource starting with the welcome meeting.
OK....what you do may depend on where you actually end up. You may not enjoy museums as much as I do but here are my thoughts:
Day 2: After a walking tour in the AM you finish in/near the Latin Quarter. That positions you to visit the Cluny Museum as well as Luxembourg Gardens, the Pantheon and if you are a Midnight in Paris fan, the church of Saint-Etienne-du-Mont which is just behind the Pantheon. This is the location of the steps where the time-traveling taxi picks up Gil. It's also a cool church on its own....very interesting double helix spiral rood screen and a shrine to Sainte Genevieve, the patron saint of Paris.
Day 3: You end at Sacre Coeur, then regroup for dinner. To me this free time depends where you are meeting the group for dinner. Where is your hotel? Are you at Hotel Londres Eiffel or elsewhere?
Day 4: It looks like you will have time between the Marais and a later afternoon visit to the Louvre. You might want to get lunch in the Tuileries Gardens unless you get a falafel in the Marais. I like the outdoor cafe in the Tuileries, Les Marronniers (which means horse chestnut trees!). You might be able to visit Notre Dame inside today, walk along the Seine, sit in the Square Vert-Galant (which is on the end of the Ile de la Cite toward the Louvre.
Day 5: After the morning visit to Versailles, I spent the rest of the day seeing the other things at Versailles including the Trianons and the Hamlet. I think I caught the train back to Paris around 6PM.
Day 6: If you are interested in the Orangerie, I'd make reservations for after lunch. You can call the office to ask what time your tour of the Orsay will finish so you can figure this out. I'd say 130 or so, just guessing.
Are you going in ahead of your tour start? Are there anythings you want to see that are not on the itinerary?
This is an excellent tour. Unfortunately, it made me love Paris and now I can't stay away, hahaha! $$$$$
We are staying at Hotel Le Six. We are going one day before the tour starts. The only extra activity that I have planned is to the see the Eiffel Tower.
Ok, Hotel Le Six looks like it's in the Montmartre area.
Day 2: Yes, if you end in the Latin Quarter, you can easily work your way back to your hotel by visiting the sights mentioned. The Cluny Museum and Pantheon do NOT need timed entries. You can just go when the time is convenient. Or if you want to see some of the Saint-Germain area you can head for the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Pres, then over to Saint-Sulpice (of DaVinci Code fiction) and on to Luxembourg Gardens.
Day 3: I wonder if your guide will have you reconvene back at the hotel to travel to the restaurant together? This is harder to figure until you get to your initial meet up. The guide will have some suggestions and there are plenty of museums you can visit that will not need timed entries. Any interest in WWII? The Liberation and Resistance Museum is excellent, free, no timed entry needed (closed Monday)? https://www.museeliberation-leclerc-moulin.paris.fr/en The Army Museum you need to pay to enter but no timed entry is needed and it is interesting and Napoleon's Tomb is here as well. Rodin Museum? OR if you are museum'd out, maybe a walk thru the Montparnasse Cemetery? It's not too far from your hotel and quite interesting! https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/montparnasse-cemetery
Day 4: Definitely stay in the area between the Marais and the Louvre instead of heading back to your hotel for your in-between time today. If you are not museum'd out you could consider the free Carnavalet Museum in the Marais which shows the History of Paris although that might be a lot since you are doing the Louvre later.
Day 5: Same advice as previous post
Day 6: Same advice as previous post
When do you have the Eiffel Tower booked for? Is that before the tour starts?
Hopefully we will do the Eiffel Tower Monday morning. Our tour group meets before dinner that day for the first time.
