Do we need to prebook tickets in Feb 19 for Paris?

We are visiting Paris between 12 Feb - 16 Feb 2019, and have following questions, can you please let us know on this, will appreciate if you can reply to each of the questions below as it would be very helpful for us

  1. Do we need to buy tickets in advance for any of the important sites in Paris? Like Orsay, Eiffel etc. Do you think that it will be long lines at any of these or other important places in the month of Feb? If yes, the how much time it would approximately take to get the ticket if we stand in a line in Feb?
  2. In case we buy the tickets at the counter, do they take the forex card or credit card? or they only take cash?
  3. Can we bring in our cameras inside the museums to take pictures?

Thanks,
Ronny

For February, I would not purchase tickets in advance unless there were some exhibition you wanted to see that only sold tickets in advance. Weather affects the ET experience so greatly that I definitely would not purchase ET tickets in advance. This strategy allows you to avoid having tickets on a day when it is raining heavily or for a day when the summit is closed.

You can purchase tickets on line for most museums and avoid the ticket lines on the day of your visit. Most museums allow cameras with no flash. If cameras were banned, staff would be taking everyone´s mobile phone as well.

There is a relatively new process for visiting the towers at Notre Dame that requires your downloading an app but otherwise you can just show up at most places. February sees a minimal number of tourists in Paris.

I would reserve restaurants in advance.

Depending on how many museums and sites you want to visit, the Paris Museum Pass may be a good deal. Look online and see how much the individual items would cost if bought separately versus the cost of a pass. Pass will get you through lines faster (always have to go through security check) and allow you to visit more than once during the days the pass is valid. No need to buy the pass ahead of time.
Eiffel Tower is NOT covered by Paris Museum Pass.

Thanks Laura! Will check out the pass option. One question, generally do we need to carry a lot of cash while in Europe (we are also visiting Italy) or most of the shops and restaurants take card? Are there any places in Paris or Italy which only take cash? Museums? Resturants? etc?
Thanks,
Ronny

I use cash for small purchases such as for vegetables at the open market, to purchase a baguette, or for a café somewhere. You probably need not spend more than 50€ to 100€ in cash per week but everyone is different.

I agree with Tocard, I probably never need more than 50Euro a week in Europe. I use credit cards whenever possible. I visited Paris mid January and there were lines on occasion. Having the Paris Museum Pass is not only a good deal if you plan on visiting a few of the venues additionally, for some of them, the PMPass allows you to jump the ticket lines. I especially find the pass a good deal when I'd like to visit a place but not commit a large amount of time. I agree with not purchasing Eiffel Tower tickets because of possible weather issues. When I was in Paris in January, they actually closed the tower Notre Dame tour on occasion because of "cold" weather. An option for the Eiffel Tower if you want to visit and lines are long, you can actually climb to the first observation deck. From there I understand that you can use the elevator to go higher. The walk up line is generally shorter.
