We are planning on visiting Versailles on Tuesday August 25. If we were to buy a ticket online now, we could get one for that specific day. However, it looks like we can save time and money for our 4-day stay if we buy the Paris Pass that Rick recommends. So we want to do that instead. We'd have to wait until August 23 to buy that pass in Paris and use it for the next 4 days. I understand that with the Paris pass we don't have a specific reservation for Versailles. We do plan to get an early train to keep the waiting in line to a minimum. But would they ever close it altogether to folks who don't have a specific ticket for that day? That seems unlikely, but want to make sure.
Paris Museum Pass, not "Paris Pass" which is generally agreed to be overpriced. I've never heard of Versailles being closed because it was "sold out" (and I have been there on crowded days.) Museum Pass will get you in without standing in line for tickets, but there will still be the security line so your plan to take an early train is good.
thanks. I meant Paris Museum Pass! Do you know anything about the tours? Sounds like it would be 7 euros more and no line at all. And we have to reserve ahead - but not sure how or how far ahead
Lines can be an hour or two.
If you can avoid that at a reasonable price, sounds like a good deal.
