Do TGV Trains from CDG Sell Out?

Hi all,

Our goal is to catch the 12:46 p.m. OUIGO train from Marne-la-Vallee Chessy to Aix on Monday, September 6.

After landing at CDG at 8:50 a.m., our choices include an 80 euro 1/2 hour taxi, or there are two TGV trains that make the 9-minute journey and could work: the 11:03 a.m. (19 euro each) and the 12:06 p.m. (35 euro each)

Do TGV trains sell out? Can I play this by ear? I'd rather take the 11:03 a.m. in case the 12:06 p.m. train is running late.

At this point, I just want to ensure we catch our OUIGO train, but of course, I just don't know how quickly we will claim baggage and go through passport control. Rearranging travel plans has prolonged our planning, and I now have missed any decent train fares. Please let me know what you think! Over the past 12 days, the flight from the U.S. to CDG has been on time except one day when it was an hour late.

Yes, TGVs do sell out, particularly during peak travel periods such as beginning/ending of August. However, in reference to the CDG to Marne-la-Vallée TGV segment, even if the train is sold out, you should be able to purchase a surréservation for the 9 minute ride. A surréservation is TGV passage without a guaranteed seat. You should also know that the SNCF ticket office at terminal 2 can have lengthy lines making it challenging to play it by ear when time is limited.

Another option would be to take the RER B to Châtelet, walk across the platform for the RER A to Marne-la-Vallée. Tickets are 17.30€, allow 90 minutes time en route, and be careful about RER A trains departing for Boissy-St-Léger from the same Châtelet platform.

You could also take the Magic Shuttle bus from CDG to Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy which takes approximately 70 minutes and costs 23€.

Edit: Sure you already know this, but for Ouigo trains, you MUST be checked in with you etickets printed and your ID ready no later than 30 minutes before scheduled departure. The SNCF can be very strict with this. By the time you pass Immigration, collect your luggage, and make your way to transportation, you will have very limited connect time.

Sorry, I didn't see you were asking about CDG to Marne-la-Vallee - please disregard.

Thanks Tocard and Phillip.

It sounds like we should buy seats in the 12:03 TGV to Marne de Vallee so we don’t have a hang-up at CDG. And yes I could/would buy all of it ahead of time and print our tickets.

Tocard, do you think the 12:03 TGV is do-able an 8:50 landing, baggage, passport control and a walk to the TGV station? There is another train at 2:30 pm but almost 6 hours later seems extreme.

Yes I do.
