Dinner restaurant recommendations in the 2nd Arrondissement

I would love to hear any dinner restaurant recommendations for the 2nd arrondissement. We are only there for 3 nights, we are with a group of 5. Yes, In Paris, thanks. Looking for cozy, authentic, good beer & wine. Not an over the top budget, but we are celebrating an anniversary.

Second arrondissement in which city? My guess is that you mean Paris. If you do, take a look at La Cordonnerie on Rue Saint Roch and Le Comptoir de la Gastronomie on Rue Montmartre. Both are in the 1st but close to parts of the 2nd. What kind of food? Budget? Depending on where you are in the 2nd arrondissement, places in the 3rd or 9th as well as the 1st might also be convenient.

La Cordonnerie was going to be my recommendation too. We haven't eaten there in the last couple of years but did several times before that and always had a really good meal. It is not that far to L'Initial in the 5th not far from Notre Dame and the Seine and that is our current go to for excellent food and presentation at reasonable price: 48 for the 7 course tasting menu -- superb. Reserve at either of these.

Wow, thanks Janet and JHK. We splurged on a chef's tasting menu on our European trip last year, and loved it. We have vowed to try it again some day. We'll be in Paris several days next spring, so I'm bookmarking this thread. And googling La Cordonnerie.

Edit to add:

The menu on their website doesn't show the tasting menu. Is wine included? Probably not, at that price.

I love the wine list; lots of choices by the glass and carafe.

La Cordonnerie does not (or did not) have a tasting menu. If they have the foie gras with cocoa sauce on the menu get that definitely. We once had the table next to us order it for dessert after they saw us sort of rolling around in it gasping with pleasure as our entree.

It is L'Initial in the 5th that has the tasting menu I mentioned. It isn't far from the second and really good.

Sorry, Janttravels44: I just skimmed your post and missed the switch from one restaurant to another. The perils of skimming! I'll check out L'Initial, as well. We're spending part of our time in the 7th, and part in Montmartre (pre-RS tour, RS tour), but the Metro is so convenient and easy that we're certainly willing to wander afield for food or a museum.
